Far from a summertime lull, July has provided a glut of news-flow for investors to digest. At home the big news was the widely predicted General election landslide win for Keir Starmer’s Labour Party. This had been largely priced in by investment markets and it will take time to see how policies unfold (although tax rises in the October budget seem nailed on).
